New Experience Japan: Osaka Street Food (Evening)

Tokyo may be famous for its plethora of Michelin-starred restaurants, but experts on Japanese food often cite Osaka as the country’s most exciting culinary hub. The neon-lit streets of the city’s central areas are crammed with food stalls and homely restaurants.

Further afield, meanwhile, lie enclaves unbeknownst to most tourists where Osaka’s gastronomic traditions still run riot. With all this culinary manna to explore, it pays to seek out expert guidance. This mouth-watering journey leaves guests in the capable hands of a local guide with inside knowledge of the Osaka food scene.

The tour kicks off near the centre of town at the Doguyasuji shopping arcade, a unique food-obsessed market, and notable for its plastic models. Nearby is Dotonbori, one of the city’s buzziest areas where stalls selling takoyaki (octopus balls) and okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) are ubiquitous. The tour ends in Shinsekai, which is notable for the spread of its dining options.
