In 2015, our events team in Indonesia had the honour of hosting an incredibly luxurious journey for 55 high-end travellers.
During their time in Indonesia, the group relished a once-in-a-lifetime excursion to Flores, uncovering the Komodo National Park where over 2,500 wild komodo dragons can be seen roaming their natural habitat. The excursion included a leisurely private cruise, sailing on-board a luxury Buginese phinisi boat, and the opportunity to snorkel in the crystal clear waters around some spectacularly isolated islands.
The next day, guests were given the opportunity to interact with local Balinese communities and witness a traditional ceremonial procession, organised exclusively for the group, with women carrying pyramid-shaped offerings on their heads as they approached the temple for the ceremony.
The group also had the chance to meet with a well-known pemangku, a Balinese priest, and receive a traditional blessing, a routine event for the deeply-spiritual locals but an unforgettable experience for the group. The excursion concluded with a range of spiritual activities, and an encounter with an astrologer who was versed in ancient methods passed down through generations to determine a person’s destiny.
The journey culminated with an impressive Gala dinner organized in the courtyard of a private temple, which belonged to the Royal Family, where more than 100 villagers took part in a welcome procession escorting the group to the venue. The gala consisted of a series of Balinese dance performances and a delightful dinner with local specialties served to the tables by locals in traditional dress. As a finale, the guests were invited to join the dancers on stage.
