Laos Product & Destination Update

Catch up on the latest news from EXO Laos!

Sabaidee from Laos!

As Laos begins its transition into the green season, our team and I have been travelling across the country on inspections, taking in the changing landscape and continuing to build firsthand insight into the destination. It is a wonderful time to be on the ground, with the country beginning to shift in atmosphere and scenery as a new season approaches.

This month, we are happy to feature two new cultural experiences: Sahai Coffee-activism and Hmong Village & Spirit Experience in Luang Prabang. You will also find a selection of Travel For Good experiences and destination news.

Happy reading!

'Community-Based Tourism'

Go beyond the usual tourist trails and embark on this exclusive experience delving into the heart of Ban Chan village renowned for its centuries-old pottery tradition. Led by the Lamphet family, this tour offers a unique opportunity to actively participate in the art of Lao pottery making while helping support the community to keep this age-old tradition alive.

Why we like it: The authenticity of the setting stands out, with the workshop taking place in a family-run studio that creates a very personal atmosphere. Participation also helps support and preserve the art of Mon pottery, an important part of Koh Kret Island’s local heritage.

Best suited for: Travellers and families who enjoy hands-on crafting and want to discover a new traditional skill.

Mekong Elephant Wonders

Pak Beng - Half Day

Travel for Good Classification
'Nature and Wildlife Protection'

The Mekong Elephant Park is a sanctuary for elephants that aims to protect these endangered animals. Located in the remote region of northern Laos, the park offers visitors the opportunity to interact with the elephants and learn about their natural habitats and behaviours. The park also works with local communities to educate them on the importance of elephant conservation and to promote sustainable tourism practices.

Why we like it: The sanctuary strictly follows ethical guidelines and has been certified by ACES (Asian Captive Elephant Standards). Participating in this tour directly supports the care of the elephants and gives the opportunity to observe them in a more natural environment.

Best suited for: Perfect for animals lovers who proritise ethical wildlife encounters and enjoy peaceful and rural atmospheres.

Featured Property

Kiridara

Luang Prabang

Under the new management of the Souphattra Group, the property underwent a total transformation in 2025, merging contemporary Lao elegance with an immersive ‘luxury meets nature’ philosophy.

The resort features 43 refined rooms, including 19 brand-new units and several private villas, all designed to maximise the panoramic vistas of Mount Phousi and the surrounding valley. The centrepiece of the resort remains its iconic infinity pool, now complemented by a world-class wellness center and a signature culinary program led by the Lao Derm Group, featuring high-end Lao cuisine and an evening steakhouse concept.

Why we like it: Unlike many hotels, Kiridara’s hillside position offers a truly dramatic perspective of Luang Prabang and the sacred Mount Phousi, especially at sunrise.

Ideal clients type: Guests who have visited Luang Prabang before and stayed in the Old Town, now looking for a different, more elevated perspective of the city. Also fit for guests who value privacy and a peaceful environment.
