Sustainability News
Donation to afforestation in the Xuan Lien Nature Reserve (Thanh Hoa Province) managed by the Environmental Conservation Organization Gaia supported by The EXO Foundation.
We’re pleased to announce that through EXO Foundation’s recent donation, the Environmental Conservation Organization Gaia will plant 1165 trees this August in the Xuan Lien Nature Reserve located in the west of Thanh Hoa province. Connecting other forests that make this area internationally important, the topography of the site is characterised by medium-high mountains, which reach elevations of 800 to 1,600 m, and are dissected by deep, narrow valleys, sloping steeply from west to east. EXO Foundation’s funding contributes to creating a collection of large tree species for future research and study, in addition to protecting the Chu River watershed forest in response to climate change.
This latest donation by The EXO Foundation is the second to Gaia, the first was to deploy afforestation at Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve with Gaia Nature Conservation Center in 2018, where 500-trees were sponsored. After 6-years the canopy has closed with the percentage of trees survival rate is up to 86% and many trees are up to 6m tall, 4 times higher than the height on the first day they were planted”.
