Culinary Cambodia – Siem Reap (Half Day)

When you are sandwiched between culinary heavyweights, it can be difficult to fly your own gastronomic flag. Such is the case with Cambodia, where a rich cooking tradition has flown under the radar due to the fame of Thai and Vietnamese food. Recent years have witnessed a growing appreciation by the wider public of Khmer cuisine however. Milder than Thai food and with subtle French undertones due to strong Gallic links to Indochina, Khmer food – at its best – holds its own with any of the region’s chief cuisines.

On this journey guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this tradition and learn how to create some of its most famed dishes. Fittingly, tuition takes place in Siem Reap, where several restaurants are upholding the tenets of Khmer cuisine in fresh ways. With the expert guidance of the French owner of Cassia Restaurant, guests will learn about Cambodian ingredients before being shown how to prepare a selection of dishes.
