Laos exudes peace, tranquility, relaxation and the outright weird? Who would’ve thought? But once you have visited Buddha Park, you’ll understand what we mean.
Buddha Park is Laos’ take of Alice in Wonderland. The artist/creator of the park, Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat, did a good job of making the structures look like they are a century old when in fact they are only about 60 years or so. But these are not your conventional Buddha images. Oh no. Statues with four faced people, multi-headed snakes, demons, large vegetables and a whole lot more of unexplainable sculptures make up the park. You’ll really have to see it yourself in order to understand what we mean.
The highlight of Buddha Park is certainly the dragon/pumpkin statue combo. Enter its demon mouth (no worries, it is just a statue) and enter into a world of even more bizarreness. But it doesn’t end there. Climb up the stairs and enjoy a cool view of the entire park. Cue to pick up your camera.
The park is not far from Vientiane and make for a perfect and convenient day trip from the capital city. Contact us for more information.
