‘There’s something special about coming full circle—returning not just to a company, but to a professional home.’
That’s how Zar Yi describes rejoining EXO Travel, where her journey in the industry first began. We’re thrilled to welcome her back, this time as the new Destination Experience Manager for Laos. Originally from Myanmar, Zar Yi was raised amid the rich cultural traditions and heartfelt hospitality that inspired her early interest in travel. ‘It felt natural to pursue a career in tourism,’ she shares. ‘It’s a field that lets me share the warmth and stories of our region with others.’ Her career began with EXO Myanmar as a Tour Consultant, and since then, she’s walked an impressive path across Southeast Asia’s dynamic tourism landscape.
Over the years, Zar Yi has brought her passion for immersive travel to leading Destination Management Companies across Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand. Now based in Laos, she brings that regional perspective—and a deep love for discovery—to her new role. Her professional approach is grounded in thoughtful curation and genuine connection: ‘I believe travel should go beyond the ordinary, whether it’s through local rituals, regional cuisine, or lesser-known cultural experiences.’
Zar Yi is particularly drawn to experiences that connect travellers to the heart and soul of a place,—from the spiritual rhythms of Luang Prabang to the food stalls of Bangkok or the peaceful shores of Inle Lake. With a strong sense of curiosity and a people-first mindset, she’s always in search of hidden gems and new ways to spark meaningful moments.
Beyond her professional talents, Zar Yi is a lifelong learner and a passionate advocate for cultural exchange. ‘Travel constantly teaches and challenges,’ she says. ‘And for me, the human connections we make—whether with travellers, partners or communities—are the most rewarding part.’
Please join us in welcoming Zar Yi to EXO Laos. We’re excited to see the journeys she’ll help shape, and the stories she’ll help travellers discover across this extraordinary region.
