EXO’s Purpose Team expansion: Driving sustainability forward

New members support efforts to align our people and actions with our purpose

The EXO Purpose team welcomed new members at the start of 2024, underscoring our commitment to being leaders in responsible, sustainable travel.

The Purpose Team is a dynamic team working to further align EXO’s people and actions with our purpose. At the helm is EXO’s Chief Purpose Officer, Alexandra Michat, joined by Nhabhakhavhat (Joy) Kittithamavoot as Director of People and Culture, Jiriphat (Eidd) Briand as Sustainability Leader.

In the first months of 2024, we have welcomed Charlotte Piffard as EXO Foundation Leader and Mayura Buranawattanachok as Software Specialist to the core team. In addition, we have filled two new Director of People and Culture positions in Indonesia and Japan, as well as bolstering our HR team in Vietnam.

These new members bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas and embody EXO’s shared vision for a sustainable future in the travel industry. With their support, the Purpose Team and EXO are poised to set new benchmarks in 2024 and beyond.

This meaningful role aligns my passion for adventure, with my professional knowledge and my dedication to working for good’.

As EXO Foundation leader, Charlotte is tasked with monitoring our support of existing projects, forging relationships with new projects and driving awareness of our sustainable and responsible experiences. ‘I am very pleased to join EXO as Foundation Leader’, Charlotte explains. ‘This meaningful role aligns my passion for adventure, with my professional knowledge and my dedication to working for good’.

Charlotte is deeply connected to Asia and passionate about travel and sustainability. Having spent her formative years in Asia, Charlotte returned to her native France as a young adult to work in her family’s restaurant. It wasn’t long, however, until she felt pulled back to Asia, working in Kathmandu selling trekking holidays before embarking on an epic motorbike trip from Nepal to Europe.

After several years as GM of a Cambodian DMC followed by a stint with an adventure travel company, Charlotte now embarks on a new chapter with EXO. Stepping into the role of EXO Foundation Leader, she is poised to make significant contributions and foster positive impacts.

A mother of two, a certified yoga teacher and a fierce rugby player, Charlotte brings passion and dedication to all that she does.

‘My experience in EXO has taught me to be responsible, full of positive power and focused on setting goals that are beyond self-centred aims’.

Mayura Buranawattanachok recently stepped into the role of Systems Specialist, providing valuable support for our teams across EXO’s internal platforms and networks.

Mayura first joined EXO upon graduating university in 2011 but left to pursue a study and travel in the US. She returned in 2014 as Regional System Specialist, championing EXO’s internal Intranet and laying the foundation for her current role.

Outside of work, Mayura loves to travel, with a focus on sampling local cuisine and adventure. She has visited more than fifteen countries and climbed Mt Fuji and Kota Kinabalu. Next on her list, Everest Base Camp!

She attributes much of her drive and positivity to her experience working with EXO and the One EXO spirit. ‘EXO spirit played an important part in shaping who I am today’, Mayura explains. ‘I feel like I am an EXO baby, growing through my journey with the company. My experience in EXO has taught me to be responsible, full of positive power and focused on setting goals that are beyond self-centred aims’.
