Take your bike and cycle to the unknown! You get to do two things on this trip, reliving your passion for cycling and travelling. It’s a win win situation where you get your daily does of exercise and adrenaline rush, knowledge about Myanmar and making a positive impact on the country and its people. Pedal through evergreen jungles, mountains and rural countryside and discover the real face of Burma in an experience that will live with you forever.

Relax and enjoy Myanmar before you head on out for your adventure. Explore and experience the country’s largest city, Yangon and see all her main sites, such as Shwedagon Pagoda and Shule. Then, head to the airport for the flight to the charmingly named town of Mandalay and see what she’s got, including the temples of Mandalay Hill, the highly revered Mahamuni Pagoda and the world’s largest book at Kuthodaw Pagoda.

It’s time to get going! First, you’ll get to cycle towards history and uncover some of Myanmar’s past capitals. First is Amarapura, where you’ll visit the U Bein, the world’s longest teak bridge. Continue by bike across the Irrawaddy River to Mingun home to the incomplete Mingun Pahtodawqyi, the beautiful white Hsinbyume Pagoda and the world’s largest uncracked ringing bell. Rest those legs and enjoy a boat ride back to Mandalay for some last minute exploration.

More cycling awaits, and that should surely excite you! This time, we’re heading to Myingyan. We promised you tropical forests and villages, well you’ll get your fair share along the way. This leg of the journey is the perfect opportunity to revel in the tropical scenery and embrace the humble lifestyle of the rural people. Stop, say ‘minglaba’ (hello) and share your stories.

After breakfast, you will take time to visit the town of Myingyan, located in the valley of the eastern banks of the Irrawaddy River. Then it’s off to the small village of Let Pan Che Paw by car before your two wheeled journey continues to Bagan.

This is it. The legendary Bagan. The marvels of over 2000 ancient temples and stupas. Get up and personal with the relics as you cycle around them. But, there’s also a town to explore, so you’ll be doing some of that as well.

Set off for a ride to Shwe Hlaing village passing small settlements where men climb up the palm trees to collect the juice to make jaggery or liquor. Maybe you can lend them a hand.

Next up, the grand Mount Popa. This is the revered home to the country’s nats (spirits). Leave your bikes at the base and climb up one of Myanmar’s major pilgrimage sites.

Now it’s time to observe life by the water. Board a plane to the beautiful environs of Inle Lake. The place is relaxing and laid back, the perfect destination to rest after your Mandalay to Bagan Cycling trip. Visit lakeside pagodas, the indigenous people who live here and even trained jumping cats in a monastery!
