Welcome to EXO Singapore and Malaysia product update. Our destinations are expressing their love for their country and cultural diversity with ceremonies and parades on Singapore National Day (9 Aug) and Malaysia Independence day (31 Aug).
This month, in honour of Malaysia receiving a fifth UNESCO Heritage designation, we focus on UNESCO Experiences in Singapore and Malaysia as well as new preferred hotel highlights.
- Products: This month is going to be fully dedicated to our UNESCO sites in Malaysia and Singapore. From Niah caves in Borneo to the cities on strait of Malacca, with Malacca and Georgetown, and Singapore with his Botanic Garden.

Destination updates
Hotel Refurbishment, Closure & Construction updates:
- Jesselton Hotel (Kota Kinabalu) September renovations: The hotel will close from 29 to 31 Aug 24. This will be followed by renovation work that are targeted to be completed by the end of Sept 2024. The works will affect only the lobby area; the rooms will remain accessible as usual.
- Eastern & Oriental Hotel (Penang) – Victory Annexe Wing Refurbishment: The refurbishment work, currently in progress, are targeted to be completed by 31 May 2025. The works will only be for the guest rooms in the Victory Annexe (Studio & Corner Suites, floor by floor), and all other facilities in the hotel remains available.
- Pullman Kuching: The Hotel is announcing a new renovation program starting from September 2024 with an estimated completion by June 2025 (subject to changes). Daily construction will take place between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. During these hours, guests may experience some noise due to the renovation work. Below are the key areas affected:
- Guest Rooms: Renovation work will commence in a staggered manner, floor by floor, from 1 September 2024 to 30 June 2025. Rooms will remain bookable throughout this period.
- 1.2 Meeting Rooms: Closed for renovation from 1 November 2024 to 31 May 2025.
- 1.3 Restaurants and Bar: Closed for renovation from 1 March 2025 to 30 June 2025. Alternative dining areas will be arranged for in-house guests.
- Main Lobby: Closed for renovation from 1 March 2025 to 30 June 2025. There will be an alternative check-in & check-out counter arranged during this period of time.
- 1.5 Gym and Swimming Pool: Closed for renovation from 1 August 2024 to 31 January 2025.
- Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur: The hotel’s Altitude Restaurant will undergo renovation with an expected completion date by end of October 2024. NO rooms are affected by the noise of the work (11AM to 4pm)
Malaysia’s Niah Caves named to UNESCO Heritage list:
We are happy to share that a new UNESCO site has been registered in Malaysia: The Niah Caves complex in Sarawak!
With this recognition, Malaysia now has five Unesco World Heritage Sites, including Gunung Mulu National Park and Kinabalu Park (2000), the Historic Cities of the Straits of Melaka, Melaka and George Town (2008), and the Archaeological Heritage of the Lenggong Valley (2012).
