Destination updates

Lake Kelimutu (Flores) update:

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry has issued updated regulations for visitors to Lake Kelimutu, Flores. Effective 28 May 2024: 

  1. Visitors are required to wear masks and bring drinking water;
  2. Kelimutu National Park visit time starts at 06.00 to 12.00 WITA;
  3. Kelimutu National Park ticket counter will be closed at 10.00 WITA;
  4. Visitor activities in the Kelimutu Lake Area are a maximum of 1 (one) hour;
  5. Visitors are prohibited from approaching Lake Nuwa Muri Ko’o Fai (Lake 2) and Lake Ata Polo (Lake 1);
  6. The area allowed to see Lake Kelimutu is Viewpoint Kelimutu Stairs and Peaks
  7. Visitors must obey the directions and appeals of the Park Hall Officer Kelimutu National.

EXO will ensure programmes are adjusted to fit these new guidelines and will coordinate with visitors to bring masks and water, as required.

Indonesia in the summer months is perfect for travellers looking to experience diverse attractions. With sunny skies and cool evenings, the weather is ideal for any activity whether it’s cultural exploration or beach relaxation. Here are a few upcoming festivals of interest:

 

INDOFEST – Indonesia Outdoor Festival on 04 – 07 July 2024

This one of the biggest outdoor adventure and travel exhibitions in Indonesia. It is held at the Jakarta Convention Centre.

 

Penglipuran Village Festival on 07 – 09 July 2024

Penglipuran is a traditional village in Bangli , Bali and renowned for its well preserved Balinese culture, architecture and way of life. The festival celebrates the unique cultural heritage involving various traditional performances, rituals, ceremonies and cultural activities.

 

Kite Festival in Bali (Nusa Penida, Gianyar, Denpasar and Sanur)

The Bali kite festival is held an annually in July. Traditional giant kites are made and flown competitively by the village’s teams which consists of 10 or more adult kite fliers. The form of the kites are various from bebean (fish shaped), janggan (bird shaped) and pecan (leaf-shaped).  This year, the kite festival in Sanur will be held on 14-16 July 2024.
