A Southern Laos trip; a must! If you are in the country, head down to this unbelievable region. Natural wonders reign as well as a simple (and of course laid back) way of life dominates the day. One of the main attractions down there is the Boloven Plateau. What’s over there? In addition to the said features, there are also beautiful waterfalls, ethnic hilltribes and let’s not forget, delicious Laos coffee!

Before heading over there, let’s get to know Pakse a little bit. This is the main hub for Southern Laos. Check out Wat Luang, the town’s biggest and most important temple. It is believed to hold Buddha’s footprint.

After your orientation, head over to the natural wonder known as the Boloven Plateau. Your first stop is at Tad Lo Waterfalls, a beautiful formation of three separate rapids. The most impressive of the three, Tad Suong, is located a further 10 kilometers upriver. You just have to be impressed by this. It looks surreal! Continue to ooh and aah as you wish before enjoying lunch by this impressive site.

After your meal continue on with your waterfall exploration. Tad Yuang and Tad Fane waterfalls immediately spring to mind, and not a bad set of rapids for you to be impressed with again. Bask as you wish. These natural beauties don’t come along very often.

As you walk around the area, say hello to the hilltribes that call this beautiful place home. These guys have lived a super traditional way of life, one that hasn’t really changed much for hundreds of years. They are also a very friendly and welcoming bunch.

Earlier we mentioned coffee. Now is your chance to sip some of Laos’ best! On the way back to Pakse, we’ll visit a plantation and have you enjoy the aroma and taste of freshly brewed coffee, straight out of the farm! A fitting end to your Boloven Plateau experience.
