Backstreets, Temples and Communities (Half Day)

Backstreets, Temples and Communities (Half Day)

Once considered one of the most beautiful cities in the Orient, Phnom Penh retains much of its ample charm – despite some turbulent times in recent history. The Cambodian capital, majestically located at the confluence of the mighty Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, abounds with wide tree-lined boulevards, colonial era architecture and sleepy backstreets where tight-knit communities and hidden temples sit cheek by jowl. This immersive exploration takes guests beyond the main tourist sights to offer a window to the city’s often overlooked splendour. Guided by a local expert, they will learn more about figures such as star Khmer architect Vann Molyvann and his work. Other highlights of the journey include Wat Lanka, one of the oldest pagodas in Phnom Penh, and Street 93, a former backpacker enclave that has been transformed into an ‘art village’, with incredible street art, local bistros, funky bars and boutique shops.
