Curious about Southeast Asia’s hilltribes? Head over to Northern Laos and be a part of a unique and memorable 3 day adventure with our Akha Experience. You’ll trek through the lush and beautiful scenery and visit the aforementioned hilltribe  villages. You are more than just a traveler; you are a participant as you journey into remote parts of Laos.

Your hiking voyage starts from That Xieng Tueng. Get used to the beautiful Lao scenery, cuz you will be seeing lots of it. The first leg will take you to Nam Keo Noi Waterfall where gracious Akha villagers are waiting your arrival with a traditional lunch. Continue on to Ban Lao Khao Village where you’ll spend the evening listening to Akha music, observing the courting rituals of the Akha youth and enjoy a traditional massage after dinner.

Continue on your Akha enlightenment journey the next day. Visit several more villages including Ban Phou Yae, Ban Houeinagang and Ban Eu La and continue with your cross-cultural interaction with the villagers. The Akha love to get to know about the outside world just as much as you like to know about them. Get your hands dirty and join them in activities such as cotton spinning, buffalo riding and rice pounding. Your meals will be in their gracious company.

Can’t get enough of this wonder experience? Your final day of this program is pretty much the same, but to different parts of the region and visits to different Akha villages. You’ll continue seeing the lush Lao scenery, unique wildlife and friendly villagers at work in the fields. We’ll even throw in a hilltop view of Muag Sing in the program as well. At Ban Piyer’s handicraft shop, you can make a contribution to the village by buying some handmade souvenirs. See it from a hill, then explore it. A van transfer will take you to Muang Sing with time for you to explore the town and visit the tribal museum for even more knowledge about the Akha and other hilltribes.
