An Evening with Arn Chorn-Pond and the Cambodia Living Arts (Evening)

Such has been the resurgence in Cambodia’s cultural climate in recent times, it is easy to forget how devastated it was. Under its brutal, nihilistic reign of terror, the Khmer Rouge destroyed an arts scene that was once one of the most vibrant in Southeast Asia. Much of the credit for helping to pick up the shattered pieces can be attributed to Arn Chorn-Pond, the founder of the Cambodian Living Arts initiative. During this evening tour, guests will have the opportunity to meet with this inspiring individual – who cheated death in a labour camp by playing propaganda music during mass executions – and to witness a majestic display of Khmer creative talent at Phnom Penh’s National Museum.  As well as hearing Chorn Pond’s incredible and harrowing story first hand, guests will discover how his arts organisation is helping bring traditional performance back to the Cambodian people.
