Intrigued by its history and culture from a young age, Lea immersed herself in the country, living and working in various regions since 2016.
Lea’s wanderlust ignited early, fueled by adventurous parents who exposed her and her sister to the wonders of travel at a young age. A motorcycle journey through Indonesia at the age of eight left an indelible mark, sparking a lifelong fascination with Asia.
‘It showed me how people, especially in Bali’s countryside, lived and made me fall in love with Asia in general’, Lea recalls. This passion for exploration led her on countless backpacking and cycling adventures across Europe, Africa and Asia.
Korea, however, holds a special place in her heart. Intrigued by its history and culture from a young age, Lea immersed herself in the country, living and working in various regions since 2016. Her journey has been marked by a desire to share Korea’s lesser-known facets with the world.
‘Korea tourism is really promising. There are so many different festivals and a lot of seasonal tourism opportunities depending on what travellers are looking for’
‘When I moved to Gwagnju, Korea, I wanted to share my life and the lifestyle in Korea. At that time, most content online was focused on Seoul, Jeju and Busan, so I started a YouTube channel to share my region, Jeolla-do’, Lea explains. Her channel quickly gained popularity.
‘I started getting contacted by local radio stations, which offered me shows. First, I hosted a radio show about Korean travel, and then I had another focused on K-pop. They were two-hour-long shows in a mix of English and Korean’.
From there, she honed her marketing and development skills while working closely with the Korean tourism board to promote the country. Her deep understanding of Korean culture and language has enabled her to build strong relationships with stakeholders, from government officials to local businesses.
It has also reinforced Lea’s belief in the promising future of Korea tourism, explaining. ‘Korea tourism is really promising. There are so many different festivals and a lot of seasonal tourism opportunities depending on what travellers are looking for’.
With her deep expertise and positive outlook, EXO Korea is excited to have Lea on-board. We look forward to continuing to develop products and deliver highly personalised services that showcase the authentic beauty of Korea.
