Luang Prabang does not have to be all about your enjoyment of the city’s temples and overall charming ambiance. Your kids can also enjoy this UNESCO Heritage town as well. Included in this trip are fun and active activities that any human being aged between one and infinity can enjoy.

The fun starts right away. Cycle along the Nam Khan River to your next fun destination, an elephant camp. You know what’s in store here? A ride! Hope on the backs of these big guys for an experience you and the kids will surely remember. Your elephant friend will take you through the green tropical jungle to Tad Sae Waterfall. Swim, picnic, take pictures, it’s all up to you.

After exploring Luang Prabang’s glittering temples, absorb more of the culture as locals bless you with a baci ceremony, stemming from the country’s previous Animist beliefs. After learning about Laos’ colorful hilltribes at the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, climb up Mount Phousi, situated in the center of town. Just 328 steps guys. You can do it! The rewards are more cool temples and great panoramic views.

Laos’ culture and traditions have never been this much fun! Learn about Laos’ famous foods and tastes with a cooking course. And eat what you created! Perhaps you should tone down on the spice just a little bit for your kids’ approval. Next up, is a shot at silk-spinning, weaving, and dyeing experience at a textile center. What can you guys make? Lots! This is your chance to bring back home your creations and boast about it back home.

If you like sports and games, then you will love petanque. It is very easy to pick up. And let us warn you, it is quite addictive! Join in with the locals for a game or two. Or if you want to hone your sills and precision, practice amongst each other first.

Now for some outdoors! Your kids will surely be intrigued by the thousands of Buddha statues at Pak Ou Caves. Feel free to explore. A flashlight and candles perhaps? It can get dark. Continue along the Mekong until you reach Kamu Lodge village. Here some cool and engaging activities await, such as rice planting, gold panning, jungle trekking, and fishing with local techniques.

The trip back to Luang Prabang is just as eventful as any other day. Continue downstream and stop at Ban Xang Hai Village. From here, enjoy a two wheeled cycling journey back to the UNESCO town. End the trip with some merit making by donating English and Lao language books to an underprivileged village in the area.

There’s a bit of everything for everybody in this trip. There’s no better way to enjoy the wonders of this beautiful country while enjoying fun family orientated activities than this. Enjoy the unforgettable memories afterwards.
