The Bhatara Turun Kabeh pilgrimage, a central event in Balinese Hindu culture, happens in the 10th lunar month of the year. This period sees Balinese Hindu families journey to Pura Besakih, Bali’s most spiritually important temple. The festival, beginning with the 10th full moon and lasting two to three weeks, transforms the temple into a vibrant center of traditional music, dance and religious ceremonies. • Galungan Festive Celebration (23 April 2025)

Galungan, a deeply significant Hindu festival observed twice yearly by the Balinese, marks a time of spiritual renewal and ancestral veneration. A hallmark of the celebration is the erection of penjor, symbolic offerings that enhance Bali’s natural beauty. During this period, temples are filled with devotees offering prayers and families, clad in traditional garments, unite to visit holy places. The festival fosters spiritual reflection and family reunions, with incense and gamelan music creating a sacred atmosphere.
