Locally known as Pesta Kesenian Bali (PKB), a premier highlight of the island’s annual calendar. This vibrant celebration offers a perfect opportunity to immerse in Bali’s rich performing arts and discover unique cultural treasures from neighbouring Indonesian islands. Ultimately, the festival serves to inspire and showcase the creativity, artistry and cultural achievements of the Balinese community.

  • Kuningan Festive Celebration – All Areas in Bali (27 Jun)

The vibrant Kuningan festival marks the joyful conclusion of the Galungan period, a time for Balinese Hindus to express gratitude to their ancestral spirits. The color yellow, ‘kuning’, is central to the day, reflected in the yellow rice offerings that honour the spirits as they return to heaven. Temples come alive with ceremonies, traditional music and dance, creating a truly festive atmosphere. Beyond the religious rituals, Kuningan is a cherished time for family and community gatherings, reinforcing the bonds of Balinese society.

  • Mekotek Ceremony, Munggu Village – Bali (27 Jun)

In the village of Munggu, Mengwi, a traditional ceremony unfolds where men, adorned in customary attire, offer prayers at the temple before parading through the surrounding area, each carrying a wooden spear.  The spears are then meticulously arranged to form a pyramid, which some of the men ascend.  This ritual, steeped in history, originally served to welcome returning warriors who had bravely defended the Mengwi kingdom.

  • Prambanan Jazz Festival, Yogyakarta (3 – 5 Jul)

An annual international music festival held and set against the iconic backdrop of Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Combines modern music performances with Indonesia’s cultural heritage, which creates a unique atmosphere where ancient history meets modern music.

  • Pengelipuran Art Festival, Bali (1- 12 Jul)

To showcase the charm of the ancient village of Panglipuran in Bangli, the local government hosts an annual event. Panglipuran, recognised by UNESCO as one of the cleanest traditional villages and a protected customary area, takes centre stage during this celebration.  The event features a traditional fashion show, culinary bazaars and various competitions.

  • Lovina Art Festival, North Bali (24- 26 Jul)

Each year, the northern Balinese coast comes alive with the Lovina Festival, a dedicated celebration of Lovina Beach’s distinct culture, heritage and breathtaking natural surroundings. The festival offers a rich tapestry of experiences, typically including traditional Balinese dance performances, dynamic live music concerts featuring both local and international talent, engaging art exhibitions showcasing regional artists and enticing culinary showcases that highlight authentic Balinese cuisine. Sporting events are also often part of this multifaceted celebration.

  • Bali Kite Festival, Sanur Village (23 – 26 July 2026)

This is a traditional kite-flying festival tied to Balinese Hindu culture, where flying kites are meant to send a message of thanks to the gods and pray for abundant crops and prosperity. The festival is held mainly at Padang Galak Beach or Mertasari Beach in Sanur, where the sky is filled with large traditional Balinese kites and spectacular flying competitions. Traditional gamelan music and parades often accompany the kite teams, adding to the festive atmosphere.
