- Nyepi “Silence Day” (29 March 2025)
Nyepi, Bali observes a day of complete silence and meditation. All lights, sounds, traffic, and activities are suspended.
Before Nyepi, look out for a very special Melasti Ceremony, a purification ritual held three to four days before Nyepi. The ceremony is known for vibrant processions that take place along the coast or riverside areas. Participants in traditional Balinese attire carry sacred objects and offerings, seeking cleansing and blessings from the water, believed to possess purifying powers. The ceremony is a beautiful showcase of Balinese art and culture, featuring intricate decorations, colorful offerings, and traditional music and dance.
On the eve of Nyepi (March 28th), Bali comes alive with vibrant Ogoh-Ogoh parades and gamelan music. Giant statues, symbolising good’s triumph over evil, are paraded through villages and finally brought to an open space for display.
