Cooking Class in Hutong School (Half Day)

Beijing’s hutongs (narrow alleys) have been centres of culinary excellence for centuries. Down characterful thoroughfares where generations of Chinese live cheek by jowl, dumplings are fried and steamed, noodles are painstakingly pulled and plum roast ducks are lovingly carved.

It is wholly appropriate then that one of the premier cooking schools in the Chinese capital takes its name from these winding portals back through the centuries. As you might expect, the emphasis at the Hutong Cooking School is on exceptional Chinese cuisine. With a focus on fresh, local, seasonal ingredients, guests will have the chance to prepare balanced Chinese meals with the guidance of award-winning chefs.

The knowledgeable staff will also conduct a local walking tour to help cooks get to grips with life at the colourful markets of the city. It is not just about Chinese cuisine here, however, with chefs also able to offer pointers on baking and creating delectable dishes from other parts of Asia.
