River Kwai Nature and Adventure (3 Days / 2 Nights)

Travelling in Kanchanaburi Province these days, it is hard to picture the region in the west of Thailand as witness to the horrors of World War II. Bisected by numerous rivers, including the River Kwai, the area is a lush patchwork of mountains, forests and waterfalls with ample opportunities for hiking, rafting and encounters with elephants. To students of history, however, the province is equally well known as the site of the infamous Death Railway built by the Japanese in WW2 using Allied POW slave labour.

This dark past has been depicted in a number of movies including The Railway Man in which actor Colin Firth plays Eric Lomax, a former prisoner of war who comes face to face as an older man with one of his Japanese tormentors.

On this journey, guests can learn more about the Death Railway at sites such as the JEATH War Museum in Kanchanaburi and the Hellfire Pass Museum while taking advantage of the stunning scenery through canoeing and biking excursions and visits to stunning waterfalls and caves.
