River Kwai = Death Railway. Yes, many people associate the river with the WWII bridge. But it’s not all doom and gloom around the river. There’s some exciting and memorable activities to peruse around the region. Don’t forget, the River Kwai area boasts some of Thailand’s fine outdoor scenery, which you can very much be a part of.

Head out from Bangkok for the scenic drive to Kancahanaburi. See how Thailand really is like outside of the capital. Once you arrive, get to know the historical significance of the area by visiting the brave souls who lost their lives during World War 2 at the war cemetery. And of course, you’ll get to see the Bridge over the River Kwai, otherwise known as the Death Railway.

In addition, you’ll also explore some of the town’s character with a visit to Pak Preak, where shop houses built during the reign of King Rama V characterize the district. Then it’s time for some adventure. Pick up a bike and pedal your way to your next station, an elephant camp. Learn about these interesting giants from the elephant trainer (known as a mahout). After that, climb on its back and let your new friend take you along a memorable ride through magnificent mountain views and other spectacular natural scenery.

Alright, trade in your land transport for some an aquatic one as we take you on a smooth bamboo rafting trip. We also have kayaks available if you prefer them instead. Yes, you’ll be paddling along the River Kwai. And guess what? Your elephant friends are waiting your arrival! Take the time to bathe these gentle giants in the river and learn more about the art of elephant training from the mahout before returning to Bangkok late in the afternoon. Or continue on with your exploration with our Kanchanaburi Tour.
