Ream National Park Escape – Explore Jungles and Beaches from your Posh Beachside Tent Headquarters

How does a tented escape to a national park beach destination sound? If your ears are ringing, then a four day excursion to Ream National Park is right up your alley.

How does a tented escape to a national park beach destination sound? If your ears are ringing, then a four day excursion to Ream National Park is right up your alley.

Depart from Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s emerging capital city for the three and a half hour car ride to your beach destination. This national park is certainly like no other. With a combination of beaches, mountainside waterfalls, mangrove forests and tropical jungles, a wide range of animals make their home here. For all you bird watching enthusiasts, the park is also home to over 155 species, including some on the endangered species list such the Brahminy Kite, the Grey Headed Fish Eagle and the White Bellied Sea Eagle.

Spend the night in your luxury tent on one of Cambodia’s quietest beaches on Koh Sampouch. Feel free to walk along the shores or if you want, fall into a trance by listening to the ocean’s waves. Make sure to catch the beautiful sunset in the evening.

There are several activities for you to do here. You can explore Koh Sampouch even further with an estimated eight kilometer walk. It is a very easy route with some light climbing over trees and rocks involved. Don’t worry about walking back because a boat will be ready to send you back to camp.

You can also explore the mangrove forest with a peaceful boat trip along the Prek Toeuk River. If you come during the cool season months of December-February, then your chances of seeing the rare Irrawaddy Dolphin will increase dramatically. We suggest having you r camera hanging on your neck in a ready to snap position at all times. You just never know when these marine mammals will surface up for air.

Or you can trek to around the park’s jungles. A hard or light trek is on offer, with rangers leading the way and pointing out the to-see spots for you. You can also try to fetch the night’s dinner by fishing with the local fisherman.

Ream National Park is such a chilled-out place. You can easily connect this experience to any of our Cambodia tours for a truly comprehensive and one of a kind Khmer experience.
