Destination News

  • Important! Upcoming Public Holidays – October is a festive month in Korea, with several public holidays to take note of. On 1 October, the country celebrates Armed Forces Day, a special day to honor the military. Later, Korea observes National Foundation Day (3 October) and Hangeul Day (9 October), celebrating the creation of the Korean alphabet. Our offices will be closed on those days, but will reply to requests when back at our desks.

  • Foliage season – Korea’s foliage season typically peaks from mid-October to early November, when the landscapes transform into brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. Popular spots like Nami Island, Seoraksan National Park, and Bulguksa Temple provide the perfect backdrop for enjoying autumn’s breathtaking beauty during this period.

  • Jeonju Bibimbap Festival –  Taking place from October 3 to October 6 2024, this festival celebrates Korea’s iconic dish with cooking competitions, tastings, and cultural performances. Visitors can experience the rich culinary heritage of Jeonju, the birthplace of bibimbap, while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere filled with food, tradition, and fun.

  • Gwangju Art Biennale – Running from September 7 to December 1, explores “Pansori – A Soundscape of the 21st Century,” celebrating the traditional Korean folk genre from the 17th century. This year’s chapter delves into how this historical art form influences contemporary soundscapes.
