- Kyoto to Increase Accommodation Tax in 2026
The city of Kyoto has announced a significant increase in its accommodation tax, set to take effect from March 2026. Depending on the room rate, the new tax could reach up to 10,000 JPY per person, per night, aimed at supporting infrastructure and sustainable tourism management in this heavily visited cultural capital.
- Entrance Fee Hike at Osaka Castle
Starting this April, Osaka Castle has increased its admission fee, reflecting efforts to maintain and preserve this iconic site amid rising visitor numbers. The updated entrance fee is 1,200 JPY and our guided tour costs have been updated accordingly.
- New Mount Fuji Climbing Rules & Fee
From this year, all climbers accessing any of Mount Fuji’s trails will be required to pay a 4,000 JPY fee. Additionally, anyone planning to ascend after 2 pm, can only do so if they have a reservation for a mountain hut. This is the only way to climb after that time, as part of new safety measures aimed at reducing congestion during climbing season.
