North Vietnam is breathtaking! It is nothing like you’ve ever experienced before. We’ll take you to some of the most amazing scenery out there with opportunities to interact with the hilltribe folks that call the area home. If you are ready to discover an incredible corner of Asia, bring your camera and your sense of adventure and join us on this Vietnam tour.

The start of the journey is a road trip. Yes, seven hours from Hanoi may sound like a long time, but you’ll see some of the best scenery in Vietnam. Who knows, you may just run out of batteries and storage space on your camera just from this car trip alone. After the long drive, stretch your legs with a short walk around Ha Giang to a Tay village, set in a picturesque valley near town.

From here, continue northwards toward the Chinese border. Here hilltribe people welcome you to their traditional way of life. Amongst the colorful groups are the H’mong and Tay people. And just like the trip so far, take the time to admire the natural beauty of the area. You’ll also literally reach the roof of Vietnam at Dong Van, the country’s northernmost point.

During your travels up here, you’ll pass the renowned Heaven’s Gate Pass. This road skirts the Chinese border soaring above a deep valley dotted with fields and rock formations. The setting here is beautiful, to say the least. Passing clouds add to the already scenic view of the valley which are dotted with fields and rock formations below. Head up to the peak for an even better view!

You are now just mere steps away from the Chinese border! The town: Lung Cu. Here, the diversity of the north comes to life, quite literally too! Hilltribes from all corners of the north (with all their colorful garments included) converge at the local market to trade their wares. This makes for a colorful scene, guaranteed! Stop at a palace of a former H’mong king and take a walk through Pho Bang town whose lanes are filled with traditional Chinese-style houses.

You’re sure in for a unique experience up here in the roof of Vietnam. The area has eluded tourists for a long time, including now, so you’re in for a truly authentic experience. Maybe you want to extend your experience in the country? Just take a look at our varied Vietnam tours.
