Burdened with fine natural gems including forests, beaches and a tall volcano, East Bali is the island’s gem of a region. There is no shortage of water in this aquatic temple, with a complex network and mazes of pools and fountains surrounded by tropical plants as well as stone carvings and statues. Built in 1946, it was destroyed by the infamous 1963 earthquake of nearby Mount Agung. Fortunately, it has been re-built and restored to its former glory, with an air of authentic royal magnificence.

What is a Bali experience without a stop at the coastline? Your next destination is Desa Bugbug, a peaceful and beautiful 400 meter wide white sandy beach. Take a short walk to a local restaurant and treat yourself to some fine Balinese style seafood. This should fuel you up for more East Bali style experiences.

And off to Tanganan you go. Enjoy the ride through the region’s green scenery, with a stop by the lovely seaside town of Candidasa. Now, about Tanganan village. The settlement is home to the island’s first inhabitants. Yes, their ancestors were here years and years ago, possibly some time in 2000 BC. You’ll see the village’s primitive architecture as well as observe the weaving of rare double ikat pattern and basket weaving. Head on to South Bali for some downtime and conclude this East Bali day trip experience.
