Christen your Halong Bay Experience on the early 20th Century Replica Steam Ship, The Emeraude

Be in the presence of the magnificent! Without a doubt, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, Halong Bay continues to razzle the eyes and dazzle the senses.

Be in the presence of the magnificent! Without a doubt, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, Halong Bay continues to razzle the eyes and dazzle the senses. And you think all you’re going to get is Halong Bay? Well, then let us introduce you to the Emeraude. This will be your base for exploring this natural and awesome UNESCO Site.

So, what is this Emeraude? Why would it make my Halong trip even more special? Imagine cruising in Northern Vietnam’s impressive bay in an early 20th century replica steam ship. It went into service in 2003 and retains all the features, charm and atmosphere of the steamer during the early 1900’s.

That should certainly make your Halong Bay experience one for the ages. And what about this natural relic? It is nothing more than a 1550 square kilometer water wonder featuring thousands of beautiful, picturesque, scenic (and the superlatives to describe them can go on and on) limestone karsts and isles in various shapes and forms.

You are not restricted to just being on the ship though. We can easily arrange kayaking excursions in the waters. And if you see an island you like, go on ahead and paddle in that direction. Once on land, explore the area! We recommend Sung Sot Cave, one of the most imposing grottos in the area. Brought your swimming gear? Good. Strap them on and jump in the waters.

There’s also some cool stuff to do on the Emeraude. Eating is one. And why not try your hand at Vietnamese cooking while you’re at it? Then enjoy your sunset dinner. And if you are a film fanatic, then a screening of Indochine should satisfy and send you off to bed, yearning for the next day on the bay. And start it all off with a morning Tai Chi session on the sundeck. Complimentary tea and coffee as well as a hearty brunch are great morning companions on the bay.

As an optional extra, your drive back to Hanoi can include various stops in the Red River Delta.  Visit one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam But Thap, the pottery community of Bat Trang, or a small village where you can watch a traditional water puppet performance. Contact us for further info.
