The Colours of Bali: Galungan Festival in a Balinese Village (5 Days / 4 Nights)

A centrepiece of Bali’s enduring appeal is the sheer colour of its traditional culture. No time is that vibrancy more on show than during festival periods. One of the best loved celebrations on the island is Galungan Festival, which occurs once in the 210-day cycle of the Balinese calendar and marks the time of the year when the spirits of the ancestors are believed to visit the earth.

For an authentic flavour of the festival, guests can visit a small traditional village. On this journey the settlement of Marga is the setting for a host of rituals. Guests can join villagers in preparing the Galungan ceremony and stroll around with a local guide who will explain the significance of the celebration.

Of course, Bali is a pleasure to explore at any time. As well as marking Galungan, guests will luxuriate in the island’s spectacular scenery, eat sumptuous cuisine and stay in unique design accommodation.
