While this trip begins in the bustling hub of Heho, the touristic experience is short lived. After a picturesque, five-hour drive south through the Shan and Kayah states, the Loikaw region comes to life with rolling mountains, glimmering lakes and colourful tribal regions. This 3-day loop covers some of the most intriguing aspects of Loikaw, from its charming inhabitants and authentic indigenous peoples to its unique rock formations, bustling markets and former royal palaces. The experience continues north to the Sagar area of southern Inle, rich in mountainous landscapes, local fishing villages, the 108 ‘sunken stupas’ and much more. Slowly riding back towards Inle Lake, the trip ends with a visit to a series of unique villages famous for their rice wine and ceramics, before concluding in the central town Nyaung Shwe.
