You’ve seen it before. Postcards of emerald blue/green seas, white sands and clear blue skies. You’ve read the descriptions in guidebooks and can almost feel the tropical air and soothing ocean breeze as you flip through the pages. Where to go to experience this tropical paradise? Thailand is a fabulous place for island serenity, with numerous spots dotted along the country’s coast.

Starting in the Gulf of Thailand, we have Koh Samed, an island in Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet National Park. Just approximately 200 kilometers from the Thai capital, the island has developed steadily over the years and is a popular weekend getaway spot for Bangkokians, yet is able to retain a quintessential, laid back tropical island atmosphere.

Heading further east near the Cambodian border is Koh Chang, Thailand’s third largest island and part of Mu Ko Chang National Park. The island is known for several waterfalls, thriving coral reefs and rainforests – ideal playgrounds for the adventurers. Also characterizing the island are its crystal clear oceans and soft sands – perfect for lounging the day away. Experience fine tropical island serenity via Exotissimo’s Coast to Coast Cambodia, with Koh Chang concluding the final three days of the multi-country tour.

Further south in Surat Thani Province are Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phang Ngan, all characterized by warm tropical weather, scenic beaches and world class diving. All these islets are just ferry rides away from each other and easily accessible from the area’s main ‘hub’ in Koh Samui.

Heading west across the peninsula to the Andaman Sea is Phuket, the country’s largest island and home to idyllic beaches, excellent dive spots, tropical weather and some of Thailand’s finest resorts. Phuket also serves as the gateway to Pha Nga Bay, a haven for turquoise waters and stunning limestone karsts and a fine spot to revel in a fabulous Thailand adventure. Nearby enjoy Phi Phi Island diving, recognized by casual and enthusiastic divers as one of the best sites in the world.

Looking to bask and relax in some of the Andaman Sea’s relaxing Thai islands? Koh Jum, a sleepy fishing village islet is peaceful and serene, a prime spot for honeymoon travelers. Going further south near the Malaysian border in Satun Province is Koh Lipe, a small tropical paradise that can be circumnavigated by foot. The island’s beaches feature clear, calm, and shallow water – perfect to lift your feet up, laze the day away and enjoy an exceptional Thai beach holiday.
