Sunrise at Borobudur (Half Day)

There is never a bad time to visit Borobudur, but the golden hour is definitely just after dawn. The magnificent Buddhist site just outside Yogyakarta is one of Indonesia’s most striking religious sites and its stupas and incredible bas-reliefs are particularly eye-catching in the early hours of the day. This half-day journey takes full advantage of this special window. Guests will depart from their hotels at pre-dawn and get to Borobudur in time for sunrise when they will witness the first rays of the day pierce the mist that regularly shrouds the remarkable temple. The atmosphere is tranquil, there are only a few other tourists and as the sun emerges the structure appears to change colours. With a local guide providing expert input, guests will then explore the massive Buddhist temple on foot, learning about the history of the temple and its symbolic design and discovering hidden corners and carvings around each turn.
