Vietnam is not normally associated with beaches. In Southeast Asia, images of the ocean and sand are usually reserved for Thailand and Indonesia. Well, it is time for you to change that perception because Vietnam has got some neat beaches! Yes, and one of them is Nha Trang. If you’re looking for a beach break in Vietnam, then why not here?

So, where is Nha Trang? It is in Southern Vietnam, just a short half an hour or so flight north from Saigon. If you have time on your hands (8 hours or more) then a train ride is also recommended. It is a great way to see the sites along the way and you’ll also get a glimpse of South Vietnam’s serene environment.

Once you’ve touched down in Nha Trang, we suggest you relax. After all, you are in one of Vietnam’s favorite beach destinations. Whatever activities you can think of that is associated with the sea or sand is feasible here. That’s right, if you are an avid diver, well, you are in Vietnam’s dive capital. Swimming, sailing, snorkeling, sun bathing, beach sports, it’s all to do here! Island hopping is also a fine activity here.

Expect a little bonus when coming to Nha Trang. Why? That’s because there is more than the beach at this town. If you like phenomena and gravity defying things, then the boulders at Hon Chong should satisfy your craving. As you may have guessed, the rocks are stacked on top of each other, oblivious to the laws of physics.

Alright, this time we’ll really step out of the beaches and tell you about Nagar Cham Towers, one of the lasting legacies of the Champa civilization. The different towers indicate that the temple was built during different times, anywhere between the 7^th and 12^th centuries. People do still come here and offer prayers and incense to the different deities each tower represents. A good way to see the locals during a local activity and a nice break from the beach, don’t you say?

Long Som Pagoda houses a tall white Buddha statue, measuring over 24 meters in height.  It was built in 1963 to honor the monks and nuns who lost their lives demonstrating against the Ngo Dinh Diem government.

Blend in with the laid back and smooth rhythm of the town by observing the boats coming in and out of the Fishing Village (located between the new and old bridge). It is quite a sight to see.
