Be welcomed into an indigenous Karen community on this 4-day experience in the heart of the jungle in northern Thailand. Immerse yourself in a beautiful welcoming community, observing firsthand how your host families live and work, sharing stories and creating lifelong memories.
Itinerary
📍 Sukhothai – Mae Sot (153 km): 2.30 hrs. Mae Sot - Mahouts Elephant Foundation (70 km): 2 hrs.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Sukhothai or Sukhothai Airport at 09:00 hrs.
Your journey begins with a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Mae Sot, where you will meet your local guide at a local restaurant called Borderline Tea Garden. You’ll have the option to enjoy lunch here at your own expense.
After lunch, you’ll board a 4WD vehicle and embark on a 2-hour drive through the “cloud forest” to the top of the mountain, where the local village is located. Upon arrival at the village, you will be welcomed by the community members and will begin your introduction to Karen culture by meeting your host family and going on a tour of the village, ending the day with a delicious traditional Karen style welcome dinner.

Start your day with a warm breakfast shared with your host family, immersing yourself in the local way of life.
Prepare for an unforgettable day in the forest, where you will learn about the lives of elephants and their mahouts. Observe these majestic creatures displaying their natural behaviors as they roam freely in their forest habitat.
Take in the breathtaking beauty of the untouched “cloud forest” while watching the elephants in their natural environment and enjoy lunch with the mahouts in the forest or back at the village. If it's coffee harvesting season, you can also partake in a harvesting activity with the help of the locals.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast with your host family while taking in the unique sights and sounds of the community.
Set out for another adventure into the breathtaking cloud forest, where you can further observe elephants in their natural habitat and enjoy lunch in the forest.
In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the local culture - watch and learn the art of weaving traditional Karen fabrics or try your hand at basket weaving.
Just before sunset, transfer to a local temple and witness the sun setting over the forest.
End the day with a delightful dinner with your host family.
