Cambodia MICE Case Study: Siem Reap with a Variety of Transportation

Unique, customised incentive experiences for a high-level automotive group
Brief

A high-level automotive group of 40 people looking for unique, engaging activities and a variety of local transport in Siem Reap.

Challenges

Due to extenuating circumstances, this group shifted their destination to Cambodia with very little lead time. The clients requested unique and varied dining experiences, outside of classic restaurant and hotel settings.

As the group was from the automotive industry, it was important that a variety of transportation options, including a self-drive option, were incorporated in the program. EXO was able to coordinate all of this despite the late notice.

We designed everything to match the company type. We thought this was a special way to connect the clients to Cambodia, making their experience unique and memorable.’

Team building Jeep rally

Being an automotive firm, the clients wanted to incorporate as many transportation experiences as possible. To elevate the experience, EXO designed a team-building experience by Jeep. We obtained permission for guests to drive the jeeps and staged ‘breakdowns’ that required the group to work together to fix the problem.

Candle-lit gala dinner at a temple

Guests enjoyed a memorable gala dinner at a private temple in the Angkor Archeological Park. EXO arranged for the temple grounds to be illuminated by candles and torches, adding to the serene atmosphere. A stunning traditional dance performance and demonstration of Khmer kickboxing complimented this unique dining experience.

‘Even though it was a last minute trip, we were able to fill it with creative experiences that were fully-customised to meet their brief.’’

Gondolas, Vespas, and quad bikes

Taking the ‘local transport’ theme to another level, EXO arranged a unique combination of alternatives.

Highlights include a gondola ride across the moat of Angkor Thom, providing guests with a unique perspective of the temples and their surroundings.  Guests also enjoyed a self-drive quad bike (ATV) adventure through the Siem Reap countryside.

We also surprised guests, picking them up by Vespa scooters.  A special route was designed to take the guests along backroads, avoiding the tourist crowds and exploring the beautiful nature around Siem Reap.

Khmer countryside dinner

The client wanted to avoid meals at the hotel and restaurants, looking for more unusual and uniquely Cambodian dining experiences. EXO Events delivered with a countryside-themed dinner on the outskirts of Siem Reap.

With a traditional wooden house as a backdrop, the team set-up picnic tables in the garden illuminated by candlelight. A buffet-style dinner was served from bamboo huts, similar to those found in the Cambodian countryside. Traditional music and local games added to the atmospheric evening.
