What is Southeast Asia without the dear and lovely elephant? Get to know these giant yet cut creatures while also embarking on a journey of discovery in Bali. This may well be a memory of a lifetime for both man and beast.

Let’s get to know our good friend the Sumatran Elephant. They are the subspecies of the common Asian Elephant that resides in the continent. Smaller than their African cousins, but still a gentle giant nonetheless. This Sumatran subspecies calls the island of Sumatra home, obviously. But they can also be seen in Bali, the Island of the Gods. Explore paradise on Earth while on the back of this beast for an unprecedented view and an unforgettable experience.

Hop in the car and enjoy the ride to the Bali Elephant Camp in Carang Sari. This beautiful scenery of lush green fields, jungles and valleys serves as preview of what’s to come.

The Sumatran Elephant is listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The population has declined by at least 50% over the last three generations (about 70 years). Not only is the camp your base for a memorable ride, but it is also dedicated to preserving and conserving the natural habitats of these amazing animals.

Now comes your elephant ride! Get ready for 70 minutes of unique landscape exploration. The scenery is quite varied, as each turn you’ll pass through tropical plantations of mango, jackfruit, durian, coffee, bamboo and coconuts. And don’t forget the animals that call these parts home. You’ll see and hear colorful birds singing their songs as well as monkeys swinging from tree to tree.

The rumbling, tumbling and swaying will finally take you to the small local village of Buanga. As you pass through the village, a special stop will be made at a local farmer’s house. This is often a highlight of the trip as you are granted a privileged look into a traditional Balinese village house as well as enjoying the company of the farmer while sipping on a fresh coconut drink.

The loop takes you through those famous bright green and glowing rice fields. In no time, you’ll be back at camp and enjoying a three course meal at Trunk’n’Mahout restaurant, amongst the soothing and idyllic setting.
