Destination News

Thailand – Cambodia Border Tensions:

As you may have seen in recent news reports, tensions along the Thailand-Cambodia border have continued in recent days. We reassure you that the situation for travellers remains stable and secure in all tourism destinations within both countries.

Clashes are very localised and confined to remote border areas between Oddar Meanchey (Cambodia) and Surin and Si Sa Ket (Thailand) provinces, far from any major tourist destinations. Key travel hubs including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Cambodia’s southern coast remain fully operational and unaffected by travel advisories.

New airport in Phnom Penh

The opening date of the new airport is on 9th September, 2025. The airport code is KTI.

Airline companies are updating bookings and our team will contact you directly regarding each impacted booking. Please note that the transfer time from the new airport to Phnom Penh is one hour. All transfer rates have been updated and are available in EXO Create.

Arrival in Cambodia:

As of 1st July, 2025, the new Cambodia v-Pass system officially replaces traditional immigration stamps and QR code slips for foreign travellers entering and exiting Cambodia via international airports and seaports.

In addition, the process of the e-Arrival Card remains the same (to complete and submit within seven-days prior to arrival). These changes are part of Cambodia’s efforts to streamline immigration processes, reduce waiting times and align with its digital economic and social development policy.

Battambang, the city of art:

The S’Art Urban Art Festival is back in Battambang from 3rd-8th November, celebrating “Colourful Cultures.” Organised by Phare Ponleu Selpak, this six-day event unites Cambodian and international urban artists. Public spaces across Battambang will be transformed with murals, live art, performances and interactive workshops. It’s all about promoting cultural diversity, empowering local artists and highlighting Battambang as a hub for sustainable tourism.

Team insights:

At the end of June, EXO Travel Cambodia’s 25th anniversary brought our team together on Koh Rong Sanloem for a weekend of celebration, reflection and shared achievement. Read our blog here

Reminder, Eliminating single-use plastic bottles:

Plastic water bottles are no longer provided to guests on tour. Guides will remind travellers to bring reusable bottles and point them to convenient refill stations throughout their journey. With Cambodia’s well-established infrastructure providing easy access to clean drinking water,  sustainability can be prioritised without impacting guests’ comfort. Please ensure this message is communicated clearly, so guests are well-prepared for their travels.
