No tour to Bangkok would be complete without a visit to Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. But what if we can take you to an experience very few visitors ever see and hear? That’s exactly what will happen in Exotissimo’s Chanting at Wat Pho and Grand Palace day trip program.

The Grand Palace was first built in 1782 when King Rama 1 moved Thailand’s capital across the river from Thonburi. It is the official residence of Thailand’s royalties, past and to an extent present. The current King currently resides at the Chitralada Palace. But the Grand Palace is still very much in use as various royal and religious rituals are performed by the King, as well as royal funerals, marriages and state banquets. The attractions in the Grand Palace include glittering temples and structures which have been built since the original founding and several others which have ben added since then. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the statue itself are some of the highlights here.

Not too far away is Wat Pho. It is known to be the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. Fitting because before the temple’s founding, the site was a center for traditional Thai medicines and yoga. The temple is one of Bangkok’s oldest and home to over 1,000 Buddhas statues and images. The most famous of which is the Reclining Buddha, one of the largest of its kind. It is 46 meters long and 15 meters high or in other words, about 25 men long and 8 men high.

So, what is it about this tour that is unique? The early morning monk chant. Many do not even know this is happening. Well, you will be seeing and hearing it with your own eyes and ears. The setting, a beautiful room with a large overlooking Buddha statue. The sound, very enchanting. The experience, one of a kind. The chant shouldn’t take more than an hour. After that, do the usual rounds of temple tours and sightseeing.
