Thailand’s winter is a boon to Lopburi’s sunflower blooming season. A fantastic stopover for trips heading towards Isaan, Ayuttayha or overland to the north of the country, Lopburi offers many attractions, not least to mention a leisurely stroll through the old city amongst the aged wooden houses. The ‘Monkey Temple’ is a must-see, as is a delicious lunch at one of the floating bamboo restaurants on the hidden lake. Furthermore, at sunset there is the opportunity to discover a local bat cave for a spectacular display, as thousands of bats wake up and leave the nest to hunt insects in the night.
