Situated north of Bangkok, discover the ancient city of Sukhothai from its temple ruins to the Lanna culture that is still being preserved today. Explore the historical park on an electric tuk tuk, visit community-based tourism Ban Na Than Chan and learn all about the ancient crafts, food and art of the region.
Upon arrival at Sukhothai Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Sukhothai. Check in and take some time to relax and freshen up before exploring the ancient royal city.
In the late afternoon, before sunset, visit Sukhothai Historical Park. Once a walled city surrounded by a moat, the park contains nearly 200 ruined chedis in remarkable condition. Hop on an electric tuk-tuk to explore the main sites, including Wat Sri Sawai, Wat Sra Sri, Wat Trapang Ngoen, and Wat Mahathat. Another highlight not to be missed is Wat Sri Chum, where an enormous Buddha sits in a distinctive seated position.

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a fun workshop to make your own clay Buddha amulet at Baan Phra Phim, a learning center dedicated to the amulets of Buddha from ancient times. Meet the local expert, Mr. Kob, who will guide you through the simple making process and share interesting stories about the center and the Buddhas. Then, visit the museum, where you can enjoy fun activities from the past, such as shooting an arrow and making fire from a feldspar. The workshop takes approximately 1.5 hours.
Following the workshop, head north from Sukhothai to the district of Si Satchanalai. Visit the local community of Ban Na Thon Chan, the 2012 PATA Gold Award–winning project in the Heritage and Culture category. Established over 200 years ago, Ban Na Thon Chan is a community-based tourism initiative that balances natural and cultural heritage for visitors. Most villagers are descendants of the ancient Lanna Kingdom, and daily life revolves around traditional tasks and customs, while preserving their local heritage.
Arrive at the village just in time for a traditional Sukhothai lunch. Afterward, travel around the village like the locals in a traditional mode of transport called an e-tan. Explore the village, stopping at several houses where different crafts are practiced, such as furniture making, wooden doll carving, and traditional dessert preparation. Then, take a walk through the lush green rice paddies and enjoy the natural scenery.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Suthep Sangkhalok Making
Another signature of Sukhothai is the signature Ceramic Celadon bowl! Join in on a workshop of painting a personal celadon at Suthep Sangkhalok and walk through the factory to learn how the bowls have been produced. Meet the local instructor who will provide a briefing on how to design these bowls, using different colours provided.

In the afternoon, indulge in the relaxed atmosphere of the rice fields at Baan Ma Kwid Café, a charming café decorated in Northern Thai style. Browse through a wide collection of Thai silks and traditional crafts.

Option A - Sunset Food Trail by Bicycle
Explore Sukhothai’s tranquil countryside and rustic villages on two wheels at twilight. Cycle past rice paddies to hear the sounds of nature and watch farmers at work, then venture deep into a village to experience local traditions and ways of life. (Note: The activities with the locals depend on the time and season of the year.)
For dinner, hop between restaurants and street food vendors, savoring Sukhothai’s best dishes and traditional desserts. Return to the hotel with a happy tummy at the end of the tour.
Option B - Cook and Eat with Auntie Na
Learn to make a few Thai dishes with Miss Na in her cozy home set within a lovely garden. Miss Na, a sweet Sukhothai-born lady, is a talented chef who follows traditional Sukhothai recipes passed down through generations while adding her own creative twists. She loves to use local ingredients such as herbs and vegetables typical of Central Thailand’s home gardens. As she often says: “The freshest ingredients always hit the spot!” (Note: Maximum of 12 participants for the cooking class.)
