๐Ÿ— Dinner

Wake up to a fresh morning and enjoy the view of the Chao Phraya River.

Breakfast at the hotel. Then, get ready for a fantastic day exploring Bangkok history and culture, day and night!

This morning, with your guide, embark on a private long-tail boat at the hotel’s pier, cruising along Bangkok’s canals to discover a more charming, tranquil side of the capital.  After passing iconic Wat Arun, veer off the main channel and enter the ‘khlongs’ (canals). Zig zag through the Thonburi khlong, an intricate network of waterways oozing with charm. Catch glimpses of traditional teak houses and modern mansions which highlights how Bangkok's waterside communities have evolved through the years.

Stop to explore Wat Khun Chan, an interesting temple area rarely visited by tourists. Then cross a small footbridge to explore old alleys. Grab a refreshing cold drink and have a seat, taking time to watch and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Continue to Wat Paknam, another rarely visited temple, and admire its beautiful golden Buddha statue, which can easily be seen during the boat ride as well. Return to the boat and continue cruising onwards through Khlong Bang Khuntien until reaching an authentic natural garden and restaurant called “Poomjai Garden”, nestled secretly on the banks of the canal. Owned by a local Thai family, this beautiful garden is served with a long history of over 100-years, when the family decided to renovate the precious lands into an organic permaculture, while preserving some rare plants and trees, like a century-old Lychee tree in the area. In the meantime, the family is connected with the nearby local community to source fresh ingredients that can be used at the restaurant.

Be welcomed by the owner who will talk you through the story of the garden and restaurant and how they contribute to the local community. Follow the owner through the garden before taking a seat by the river for a delicious lunch served with a signature drink.

After lunch, be picked up by a private vehicle from the restaurant and transferred to Grand Palace, which has served as the seat of Thailand’s revered Royal Family for more than two centuries. Take a walk around the vast grounds, stopping in to explore the various temples, throne halls, the Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddhist image in Thailand and museums within the compound with a particular focus on Queen Sirikit Museum. For those who want a more exclusive visit, a curator from this remarkable museum will be your personal guide through the exhibit. Not only does the visit showcase high fashion but it also chronicles the Queen's life, and state visits.

Go behind the scenes for a closer look at Buddhist culture. Continue your journey with a trip to Wat Pho which is one of Bangkok’s most enchanting temples. Take a walk around Wat Pho and see the vast collection of religious treasures on display. Admire the famed reclining Buddha image, which stretches 45-metres in length. Learn about the symbolism of the Buddha’s intricate footprint and witness devotees making offerings to this revered image. Enjoy the afternoon monks’ chants. Witness this deeply spiritual ritual and gain a better sense of Thailand’s Buddhist heritage.

This evening, get ready for a memorable night out! Transfer to Rajdamnoen Stadium, Bangkok’s historic indoor sporting arena, for a night of Thai kickboxing.

Enjoy the pre-fight atmosphere as musicians play lively traditional music and local fans come to fill the bleachers. The local guide will give background information into the sport, which originated in the 16th century, and the rules of the competition.

Then the fights begin! Witness the boxers going through an elaborate pre-fight ritual. Called the wai kru, this combination of slow-moving dance steps and praying is meant to pay homage to the boxers’ teachers and to bless the fighters. After a short introduction by the referee, the fights will begin.

Watch several fights during the course of the evening, joining the locals as they cheer on their favourite boxer. Watch – and learn- the incredible tactics used by the fighters to bring down their opponents.

Following the final match, transfer back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep.
