Be warned, the train is slow. But that’s a good thing because you’ll have time to truly breathe in the environment, no pun intended. Smells of betel nuts, people carrying food and groceries and Burmese snacks and treats is part of the experience. You’ll also be in the company of your average Burmese during the day and also get to see villages and the overall colorful atmosphere of Burmese rural life.

If you expect air-conditioning, first class service, ultra soft and cushioned chairs with tons of leg space, you will not get it here.
