Explore, experience and be embezzled. Step out of the main cities, towns and sites to truly get a feel of Cambodia. The countryside is pure bliss, blessed with some of the most stunning natural scenes and of course some of the friendliest and most hospitable people you’ll meet. Explore, experience and be embezzled as you embark on a soothing cruise along the Mekong River for an unforgettable journey of discovery.

Live the rhythms and cultures of authentic rural lifestyles. Leave the capital behind and hop on your boat and living quarters for the next five days and head towards Kampong Chhnang. You’ll get to experience life by the Tonle Sap, one of Cambodia’s most ecologically important bodies of water. Whether you are here when it is a lake during the rainy season or as a river during the dry, you’ll notice humble stilted villages brimming with waving people and fishermen out for the catch in a lush and green environment. Set on a smaller motorboat and explore this semi-aquatic town even more via its network of canals. You’ll notice a colorful array of nature, including birds, fish and plants.

Don’t get your next stop confused with the first (the spelling and name is pretty identical). You’ll head towards Kampong Cham, and be treated to a settlement quite like the one you were at (which again makes the two places quite confusing). Stop at the little-known Chong Koh silk-weaving village for a morning walk and continue past the Mekong’s timeless villages before stopping at Peam Chi Kang for a calming experience at the local temple.

Continue your Tonle Sap/Mekong water tour with a visit to the pre-Angkorian hilltop temple of Wat Hanchey, then head out to Wat Nokor, built out of sandstone and laterite and sprung up just about when the Khmer Empire was born. Further explore Kampong Cham by basking in its colorful market and witnessing the grandeur of old colonial buildings. In the meantime, show your appreciation of the town by helping its young citizens. We’ll take you to a center for underprivileged youth, where you can teach the young ones some games, English and share with them stories of your wonderful journey so far. The town marks the furthest north the boat can navigate, thus the last section of this Cambodia tour is capped off with a scenic overland drive to Siem Reap.

If you’re looking to add unforgettable experiences to your memory bank while also travelling past the beaten path, this Phnom Penh to Siem Reap Cruise tour is certain to fascinate and enlighten. Continue your Cambodian touring experience; witnessing the grandeur of Angkor, relaxing on the beaches of Sihanoukville or heading further into prime Cambodian countryside.
