South Sulawesi highlights:

When to go: Straddling the equator, Sulawesi enjoys a hot, tropical climate year-round, though there are some seasonal variations to note. October to December are typically the hottest months, followed by the green season from November to April, when high humidity and daily downpours are common, particularly in the southern regions like Tana Toraja. The cooler, dry season—also the most popular with tourists—runs from May to October.
Getting there: Sulawesi has several international airports, with Manado in South Sulawesi being the main gateway. However, depending on the itinerary, flights to Makassar (northeast Sulawesi) or Palu (Central Sulawesi) are also available.
