A Thai tropical island and good jazz music. Sounds like a winning combination, doesn’t it? The two will combine and join forces for a truly remarkable event in one of Thailand’s most popular island destinations, Koh Samui. So get ready, get your groove on and head down to the island for a truly memorable musical experience because sweet jazz music will fill Samui’s air from September 24th-September 30th.

Why Samui? With the island’s warm and calm oceans, sandy beaches and numerous palm trees as well as beautiful waterfalls, rock formations and corals, it is only natural that jazz compliments this already colorful island. Many also see this connection. “We strongly believe that this wonderful event will bring out another hidden potential of Koh Samui – ‘a unique island for great jazz’,” said M.L. Nandhika Varavarn, Vice President – Corporate Communications of Bangkok Airways.

The Samui International Jazz Music Festival is now an annual event that is highly anticipated by both foreigners and locals alike. It has its origins from the successful Samui Jazz Series, which were held once a month during the previous years. And the rest is history, as they say.

This year’s Samui International Music Jazz Festival will also draw numerous international artists such as Peter Beets, Saskia Laroo, Renske Taminiau and Alexander Beets as well as over 100 Thai jazz stars. The influx of foreign jazz stars should serve as inspiration to the country’s budding musicians. Mr. Santi Wongsawat, the event’s Festival Director said,” It is our vision to bringing the joy of jazz music to this fabulous location while inspiring talented Thai jazz musicians when performing with international artists.”

The musicians will be performing on 11 stages for a total of 42 shows in 7 days in 3 locations, namely Bophut Beach, Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach. In addition, there will be workshops where children and adults alike can engage in games, activities and other jazz related festivities aimed at bringing out the Kenny G in you. Oh, and by the way, admission is absolutely free!

If you love the feel of a tropical island and are fond of jazz music, then this event cannot be missed! Take a look at Exotissimo’s Samui Hotels listing for accommodation options on the island.
