It’s time to pack up your underwater gear and head over to….Myanmar? Yes, Burma does boast some pretty cool reefs. The spot is, Myeik, a city in Tanintharyi Division in Southern Myanmar and not too far from the Thai border. You’ll hop on a liveaboard boat and bask in the beauty and color of the tropical waters….Myanmar style!

Alright matey. We’ll get you onboard your boat at Kawthaung Port and set you off to sea for the next couple of days. The Myeik Archipelago is known to have tons and tons of islands. Great for exploration, don’t you think? And listen to this. The area was off-limits to visitors until 1997. Even though it is open now, access is limited and the area remains largely untouched. You can count on us to take you to those unexplored areas!

You’ll make your way to the amply named 115 Island and the more conventionally named Nyaung Wee Island. Do as you wish. Jump in and check out what Burmese corals and marine life has to offer you. Kayaking is also an option, and a nice one as well. Or if you just want to kick back and relax on the boat’s deck, then go ahead and do so. This is your Burmese beach holiday after all.

It is now time to traverse land and see what adventures await as you trek Nyaung Wee Island. Here’s what to expect: think tropical island jungles. And a pretty cool one at that. After your exploration, head back to your boat base for the afternoon cruise to Ma Gyong Galet village where you will have the unique opportunity to observe the traditions, cultures and lifestyles of the Moken or Sea Gypsies. An interesting group of people to say the least.

Still intrigued by the previous island you just explored? Then head on over to Lampi Island, but with a twist. This time, you’ll kayak along its river. All the while appreciating the awesome virgin forest and the fascinating nature that fills the island’s interior. Then enjoy the transfer to Nga Mann Island. Here, you’ll again swim/dive in the surrounding tranquil waters.

And celebrate your last night in the Myeik Archipelago with a bang! Enjoy a special beachside barbeque complete with a bonfire and a festive almost party like atmosphere. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Now you know about Myeik. And the experiences and memories of it. Is a second trip calling?
