Kep: The Quiet & Relaxing Cambodian Beachside Destination – Great Break from the Temples

Looking for a break from the temples? There are some pretty nice beachside resorts in Cambodia that can satisfy the craving for relaxation.

Looking for a break from the temples? There are some pretty nice beachside resorts in Cambodia that can satisfy the craving for relaxation. Sihanoukville is one place you can go to. But if you prefer a quieter more relaxing seaside resort town, then maybe you should head over to Kep.

Before Sihanoukville, there was Kep. Once upon a short time, this was Cambodia’s most popular beach place. Only now has it been rediscovered. Kep Beach is a popular getaway for Cambodians during the weekend, but you can be assured that it will be practically empty during the weekdays.

If you are in Kep, you just have to try the Pepper Crab. It is the town’s specialty. The crabs here are good enough, but flavoring it with the pepper from the area is just mouthwatering fantastic.

And why not hop over to the nearby Rabbitt Island (appropriately named based on its shape resembling the animal? Only a 20 minute boat ride from the mainland, very few settlers live here. You are assured of a quiet and peaceful experience here.

There’s more than beaches at Kep. If you are a hiking kind of guy, you’ll be happy to know that there is a trail circling around the mountain above town. Not a very long one though (about eight kilometers) but still a great opportunity to experience some jungle and wildlife.

If caves are your thing, then head over to Kompong Trach. Its main attractions are the beautiful limestone formations. Double your cave exploring pleasure by immersing yourself in a swimming cave located nearby.

So, are you convinced? Do you think Kep is the escape you need? Or the break you’re looking for from your temple touring experience? If so, then come on down! Our Kep Escape tour program may just be the relaxing antidote you need to refuel and recharge yourself.
