Add a Dose or Two of Family Fun When Exploring Cambodia’s Impressive Temples and Ruins

Sure, we all know Cambodia is home to some of the world’s most impressive temples and ruins, but there is also much more to the country.

Sure, we all know Cambodia is home to some of the world’s most impressive temples and ruins, but there is also much more to the country. Introducing Exotissimo’s Family Soft Adventure tour. See Angkor’s temples in a unique way and engage in a whole range of activities aimed at mom, dad, the kids and even the grandparents to have a good time.

Before we head over to the fun stuff, explore Angkor’s temples the traditional way. Whether on foot or tuk-tuk, Angkor Wat never ceases to amaze. Next up is a scenic bike ride through the beautiful Cambodian countryside, consisting of picturesque rice fields and villages. The track is flat, ensuring that the cycling itself affords minimal effort which allows you to fully appreciate the surroundings. If your children decide they do not want to cycle anymore, a supported vehicle is on hand throughout the trip. Your destination: Kampong Phluck. Embark on an interesting boat ride on the Tonle Sap (River or Lake, depending on the season) and enjoy a picnic lunch at a local’s house.

Next, head over to Banteay Chhmar. This is one of the lesser visited sites in Cambodia, so the place is practically yours. It is also a spectacular sight with its Bayon Style towers, walls and enclosures cloaked with vegetation.  While here, experience some typical Khmer village activities when visiting the local market. You and your kids will also have an opportunity to teach an English children’s song to the kids there. This is a great moment for both sets of children!

Now head back to Siem Reap and choose from a list of activities to pass the day. These include:

•    Horseback riding in the countryside

•    A microlight flight hovering 400 meters above ground and gliding across Siem Reap, the Angkor temples and surrounding villages

•    An off-road quad bike ride with visits to villages

•    A tour of the Rolous Group temples including a cow cart ride to Roluos Pagoda

More temples will be discovered, but this time, check them out on the back of an elephant. After exploring the ruins and jungle on the gentle beast, it’s time for your final experience..a treasure hunt! Head over to the jungle-clad temple of Ta Phrom. Yes, this is how the explorers found it, filled with jungles and trees. Cambodian authorities decided to leave it the way it is. And boy, does it sure look cool! You will be given a map and a roadbook and it is your task as a family to unravel a mystery inside Ta Prohm and will lead you to the final clue…

Don’t expect us to tell you what the final clue is. But what we can do is present to you with an impressive list of Cambodia tours aimed at bringing the best of the country to you. If you have no idea what you want to do in the country, just refer to these tours as a guideline.
