Luang Prabang is a town that can truly capture the imagination. Rows of glittering temples with beautiful mosaics and murals dominate the town. Throw in some colonial architecture, green trees, a laid back atmosphere and clean environment and you have yourself a recipe for a truly enchanting experience at this UNESCO Heritage town. If you want to bask in a truly traditional and cultural environment, you are in the right place.

Begin this Laos tour with a visit to the Stay Another Day Exhibit, a multi-media event hosted at the Kopnoi Exhibition Gallery near L’etranger that seeks to inform guests on local culture and traditions. After that, climb up Mount Phousi. Climb, you may ask? No worries, it is not a steep journey at all. In fact, you will get a rewarding perspective of the town as well as a beautiful view of the sun setting in the horizon.

Luang Prabang is also about life by the river. It is after all, located in the confluence where the Mekong and Nam Kan Rivers meet. And this is exactly where we’ll take you. Cruise along the famous Mekong and absorb the tranquil and chilled out rhythm of river life. We’ll keep taking you further along for the ride until you reach Pak Ou Caves, the mystical cavern that is home to thousands and thousands of Buddha images.

Next, we’ll take you back to town so you can further absorb the fine collection of Luang Prabang’s temple relics. Some of the sites include the former Royal Palace, the over 450 year old Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Sen and many others. Cap this day with a performance from the Laos Royal Ballet’s spectacular performance, which includes scenes from the Lao-Ramayana as well as traditional folk and tribal dances.

The town is also known for its beautiful scene of orange clad monks on their alms walk. You have to see it to believe it. You are more than welcome to take part in it. In return, the monk will give you a blessing. This experience takes place at dawn, so no problems for early birds. Otherwise, a good night sleep beforehand is highly recommended.

No Luang Prabang visit would be complete without Kuang Si Falls, wouldn’t it? Refresh yourself in the amazing light blue pools. Enjoy a poolside picnic as well. A perfect end to your Enchanting Luang Prabang experience.

A unique blend of temples and colonial buildings set between two rivers and a range of limestone mountains and serene jungles, Luang Prabang truly is one of the last Shangri-la’s in the world.
